Rob is a practical chemical engineer, operating at the intersection of process development, reaction engineering and catalysis. He received his undergraduate degree from Delft University, and a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley. Chemical reactors and the processes built around them have always been his passion. He spent 20 years at Air Products and Chemicals, focusing on hydrogenation technology, structured catalysts and reactors, syngas production, and ion transport membranes. At SABIC for the past eight years, he shifted his attention to petrochemicals, leading process development for methane coupling, hydrocracking, and oxidative dehydrogenation. Currently, Rob focuses on SABIC’s sustainability goals, leading the company’s efforts to demonstrate electrified steam cracking technology.
